Peggy M.
RSVP Volunteer

Peggy M. was born on the lower east side of New York City, one of five children. After graduation from high school, Peggy went on to obtain her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. In 1938 she married Edward and started her family...two sons and a daughter. Edward moved his family through five states...his job was to open supermarkets. This meant no job for Peggy, so she took up volunteering to fulfill her desire to be helpful and needed. Whether it was a political campaign, the PTA, Little League or Boy Scouts, Peggy was there. Today, it's UCLA Medical Center, Israel Levin and RSVP. Helping is the word Peggy lives by. Doing something to please others gives her joy. She says, "It's good for my soul".

"Be a Volunteer—It is good for the Soul"

Her teacher at the Senior Commercial Acting Club at the local Senior Center suggested she attend an open audition and soon Peggy was the number one choice for an SBC commercial. It took two days to shoot and she loved every minute of it. She joined SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and at 85 has a new career. Her second commercial is for Jack- In-The-Box, with no speaking part, but she gives the man next to her "a look" as he expounds on the sandwich he is holding. It's that "look" and her voice that gets her the callbacks. She now carries her cell phone, never knows when her agent may be looking for an assignment.

Peggy's children have given her seven grandchildren. Her sons are successful TV and movie writers and her daughter is an elementary school teacher. The writing is obviously a family trait because Peggy has written a book entitled "A Guide to Enrich Your Senior Life". Peggy lives every word in this book and strongly promotes the theme "Be a Volunteer-It is good for the Soul"!
