John is 54 years old. He was a cook in his family business — a taco stand in Los Angeles. While at a party one evening, he suffered a stroke. John was admitted into a skilled nursing facility. Although John has tried to keep in touch with family and friends via telephone, his calls are not returned and he gets no visitors. The WISE Ombudsman is his only regular visitor.
He looks forward to weekly visits from the Ombudsman who ensures that he receives quality care and support that enhances his day.
Despite his physical impairments
from the stroke and feeling alone as a result of the
disconnect from family and friends, John is still able
to keep his spirits up and make the most of his new
