David
M .
David M. was born on February
25, 1930 in Mansfield, Ohio. He married Elizabeth and
had two daughters, Sue and Melody. David's military
history includes both the Air National Guard and the
Army Reserve for a combined total of 21 years.
The family moved to California in 1979 where
the aerospace contractor Lockheed employed David for
10 years as a photographer and his assignments included
those of a top security nature. Over the years, David
developed a hobby collecting and building miniature
railroad systems and has received many awards from organizations
such as the National Railroad Association. Photography
also remains a favorite pastime, especially ground and
aerial photography.
Elizabeth passed away some years
ago. His poor health and the loss of his spouse resulted
in David moving to a long-term care facility Los Angeles
County.
When he originally moved to the facility, David did
not have access to his beloved trains and photography,
which significantly impacted his quality of life. He
contacted the WISE Long-Term Care Ombudsman, who resolved
the issue. David now enjoys his hobbies in his room.
He looks forward to being invited to the occasional
family gathering of his daughter who lives in the area.
The WISE Long-Term Care Ombudsman program advocates
for the rights of residents like David in nursing homes
and long-term care facilities across Los Angeles County.
