Fred
Marcus
My name is Fred Marcus. I turned 54 on May 4. I am an
attorney and a partner in the law firm I joined 21 years
ago. My practice focuses on estate planning and tax
exempt organizations. I am married and have two sons;
Jake is a freshman in a private college and Joe is a
freshman in a private high school. Most of my discretionary
income pays for their education. I own assets that I
believe will appreciate over time.
I was introduced to WISE Senior Services about 10 years
ago when I filled in at the last minute for an estate
planning seminar. Since then, I have served as a volunteer
for the WISE Endowment Committee and spent at least
two hours per month at WISE offering free estate planning
advice to the community.
I have learned over the years about the vital services
offered to our community by WISE. I have met many members
of the dedicated staff. I have also met many individuals
who have had their lives prolonged and enriched by those
services.
I have provided for WISE in my estate plan because that
is the principal financial method I can use to support
WISE at this stage of my life. Originally, I named WISE
as one of the beneficiaries of a portion of my life
insurance policy. I have subsequently designated WISE
as one of the beneficiaries of my Living Trust. I do
this because I believe WISE is an important institution
in our community and worthy of support. I do this because
my wife and I want our estate plan to be reflective
of the values that have guided us through our life.
We together feel responsibilities to our family and
to our community. We do not believe that one should
be supported to the exclusion of the other. Everyone
makes their own decision about the right balance but
it should be recognized that every gift is important
to WISE and helps to support its mission.
