Hattie S.
Hattie S. is a delightful, petite
woman of eighty-seven who has led a productive life.
She taught pre-school and raised two children with
her husband in the Carson home where they lived since
1957. When her husband took ill and died after fifty
years of marriage, Hattie, a strong woman, began a
life of independent living. Occasionally, her family
provided support but it was seldom needed until recently
when she fell several times.
"WISE is doing all they
can possibly do
for me and I'm thankful for their help."
Hattie is hearing impaired with equilibrium problems
that cause imbalance. Her family members decided that
she might be safer if she were to move in with her
ninety-year old sister. When the family realized Hattie
might need additional support, she was referred to
WISE Care Management. A WISE Care Manager, after assessing
her needs, made arrangements for personal attendant
care and assistance with food shopping, housecleaning
and meal preparation. In order to prevent Hattie from
falling in the bathroom, grab bars were installed.
An emergency response system was activated to provide
her with access to emergency care at the touch of
a button.
Hattie's grand niece, impressed by WISE, said, "We were not aware of the
services available until now …you provide an excellent program."
Hattie is content with the recent attention received and stated,
"WISE is doing all they can possibly do for me and I'm thankful for their help."
With these services in place, Adeline feels more
comfortable and confident living alone. She enjoys
having visitors. Adeline is happy and looks forward
to new memories.
