Adeline B.
Her best friend and neighbor of
20 years referred Adeline B., an energetic and spirited
93 year old, to WISE Care Management. Living alone in
an apartment in Santa Monica and experiencing several
falls, Adeline needed more care so she could continue
to live independently. After a major fall that broke
her arm and had her in the hospital for weeks, Adeline
knew it was time to receive extra help. She currently
needs to use a walker.
Adeline feels more
comfortable
and confident living alone.
Born in Arkansas, Adeline later moved to South Dakota
with her father, 3 sisters and 2 brothers when her mother
died. When her father was unable to care for her, Adeline
was then raised in a convent for 10 years in Nebraska.
She moved to California in 1941 to be closer to her
siblings. Adeline was married for 45 years and has been
widowed for more than 20 years. She has no children
or close relatives.
Through the help of WISE Care Management, Adeline obtained
an emergency response system that she wears around her
neck so that she may summon help if a crisis occurs.
Adeline feels safer knowing there will be help when
needed. She still goes about her daily activities of
reading the newspaper and doing crossword puzzles.
Her WISE Care Manager helped Adeline
made prearrangements for her burial. She states that
she feels more at ease knowing that is done. Adeline
needed help cleaning her apartment, so WISE arranged
for an in-home help agency to assist Adeline with this
task.
With these services in place, Adeline feels more
comfortable and confident living alone. She enjoys
having visitors. Adeline is happy and looks forward
to new memories.
