Marie and Joe M.
Marie and Joe M. are in their 80s and have been married for 44 years. They moved to California 20 years ago to be closer to family. Joe had been in the roofing business and Marie worked as a hairdresser at a local department store. They enjoyed their leisure time traveling, dining out, dancing and entertaining.
After some financial setbacks Mr. and Mrs. M. became accustomed to living on a fixed income. They contacted WISE Care Management two years ago for assistance. They both were developing health problems and were having a difficult time managing their finances. By the end of each month they had no money left to buy food. WISE care mangers educated them on benefits they were eligible for and assisted with the process and the burdensome paper work. Marie stated, "It was like a miracle. We now had food to eat. We didn't know there was such help and assistance available." They now have a little extra money that enables them to occasionally eat out or go to a movie.

Marie and Joe used WISE services again when Marie needed surgery and Joe was alone and had a difficult time managing on his own. An in-home worker was sent to assist Joe with housekeeping, laundry and meals. Marie was able to recuperate knowing Joe was in good hands.
Marie and Joe state "WISE does more good then any other group we have come in contact with."
