Eung Soon C.
"Grandfather"
Affectionately called "Grandfather", Eung Soon C. was born in Korea, March 3, 1917. As a young adult he was diagnosed with severe rheumatism which was so severe that be was not able to work. Due to the severity of his health problems he was not able to provide an income for his family, he gave up on life and became very depressed.
He likes to come to the WISE Adult Day Support Center for socialization, to learn English and exercise.
Mr. C. was invited to the United States by his sister-in-law who felt the change would improve his health, lift his spirits and he would be able to work again. When he applied in Korea to travel to the U.S. he was denied due to his poor health. However, he was later approved to go, and he counts this as one of the best moments in his life. He and his family packed up and left Korea, arriving in the U.S. in 1977. His health improved. He began to make and sell miniature models thus making a living for his family. He likes to come to the WISE Adult Day Support Center for socialization, to learn English and exercise. He appreciates and loves that he and his wife can live independently in their senior apartments in Los Angeles. His four children reside on the East Coast.
